As Vice President, Rafael is committed to creating a structured, competitive, and positive environment where athletes can develop their skills, confidence, discipline, and understanding of the game. His experience in sports management and baseball training allows him to help guide the academy’s programs while working closely with coaches, players, and families.
Rafael helps oversee the academy’s overall program development, including training structure, player development, coaching coordination, program operations, and the continued growth of our athletes. His leadership focuses not only on improving performance on the field, but also on developing the character, work ethic, teamwork, and accountability that athletes need to succeed beyond baseball.

With a strong foundation built through high-level playing experience, Cuevas brings a professional approach to player development, combining discipline, technique, and game intelligence.
Cuevas played collegiate baseball at Lee University, where he refined his skills and established himself as a well-rounded player. His performance earned him selection by the San Francisco Giants in the 29th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft, marking a major milestone in his baseball career.
At Astor, Cuevas is known for his ability to develop hitters of all levels, focusing on mechanics, timing, approach, and confidence at the plate. Beyond hitting, he plays a key leadership role in running operations, ensuring programs are executed at a high standard and athletes receive professional-level training.

The Gotham Goddesses are excited to announce our Winter Softball Development Program at Astor Academy, created specifically for young girl athletes who are ready to develop their softball skills, build confidence, and take their game to the next level!
Whether your daughter is picking up a softball for the first time or already has experience on the field, this winter program provides a positive, structured, and empowering environment where young athletes can learn, train, and grow.
Our winter program will focus on building strong fundamentals while helping each athlete become a more confident and knowledgeable player.
Players will work on:
- 🥎 Hitting & Batting Fundamentals — stance, swing mechanics, bat speed, contact, and hitting approach
- 🧤 Fielding Skills — proper positioning, glove work, ground balls, fly balls, and defensive fundamentals
